When complete, the bridge will span 1,500 feet, making it the third longest cable-stayed bridge in the United States. The new Mississippi River Bridge will be the first bridge connecting downtown St. Louis and southwestern Illinois in more than 40 years. Interstate I-70 will be rerouted from the Poplar State Bridge to the new Mississippi River Bridge to relieve traffic congestion and promote fewer crashes. Roads & Bridges will continue its series of face-to-face educational and networking events on November 9 and 10, 2011 with a conference in Las Vegas, NV that combines educational sessions led by industry experts with other valuable opportunities to learn innovative techniques from leaders in the field.
